Lands left at the mercy of capital now exceed eight provinces: The homeland has been abandoned

Across the country, living spaces have been encircled by mining licences. Almost three out of every ten districts have been classified as ‘abandoned areas’. Over the past four years, the areas granted to companies have exceeded 1 million hectares.

In 2026 alone, an area larger than 8 provinces was transferred to capital.
