The AKP’s election model: Detention, threats, blackmail

The AKP government has effectively rendered the 2023 local elections invalid. Dozens of municipalities have changed hands through the appointment of trustees and transfers. If the Presidential Palace secures the result it desires in the presidential election, it aims to deny the opposition any chance of establishing a government at local level as well.
