Privatization champion the AKP’s new target is the priceless Bosphorus bridges and motorways. A decree signed by Erdoğan has included motorways in the privatization programme, paving the way for the transfer of numerous assets to private capital. During the AKP era, in which the Republic’s assets have been sold off one by one, revenue from asset sales has exceeded 65 billion dollars.

Profitable assets have been put ‘on display’. Citizens are now facing the price rises, rising bills and toll charges resulting from these privatisations.
