Arrest warrant sought for BirGün reporter İsmail Arı: He has been referred to the magistrates’ court

BirGün reporter İsmail Arı was taken into custody yesterday following a complaint by former RTÜK Chairman Ebubekir Şahin. Our reporter, Arı, who went to the Police Headquarters at the specified time to give a statement, was served with a detention order there. Having spent the night in police custody, Arı was taken to the courthouse at around 10.00.

Arı’s statement to the public prosecutor’s office concluded at 13.00. Our reporter, Arı, was referred to the magistrates’ court with a request for his arrest on charges of “publicly disseminating misleading information”.
